Sent off a 25/1 shot, Only One Scobie ploughed through the mud, in driving rain, in the concluding mile handicap at Leopardstown this evening.

Luke McAteer made the running on the Paul Flynn-trained gelding and he had his rivals at work turning for home.

The Galileo Gold gelding galloped on strongly in the closing stages to post a five-length win over Cosmic Funk

It was a significant improvement on previous form from the three-year-old, on his eighth career start.

"Just the ground, I think,” said Flynn afterwards.

“He got a fright in front and he kept going. He had a good run in Gowran on soft ground."
