Sean Cleary-Farrell on his Punchestown win: 'For that to happen it’s just magic' Sean Cleary-Farrell is a young jockey on an upward curve which continued with another big race win when he landed the Killashee Hotel Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown on Tuesday aboard Kalix Delabarriere. The Willie Mullins-trained gelding challenged on the approach to the last in the Listed contest, worth €75,000 and ran out a four-length winner at 10-1. Niall Tierney caught up with him at Punchestown following the memorable victory, he said: “It was super to win, he’s given me the best day in my career a couple of weeks ago at Fairyhouse. “The horse was perfect the whole way round today, jumped great and when I needed him to come home, I had loads of horse underneath me again. “I didn’t really expect it the last day, when winning in Fairyhouse, but I got a lovely run. “Today I knew it would be a lot more competitive especially because the ground's a lot quicker in Punchestown. “I thought I won't go down the inside, I’ll take the wider route and he had a lot more ground to make up today and it made no difference to him. “I love to be riding in these races, it’s great, for that to happen it’s just magic all together.” He also reflected on his final fence unseat from Spanish Harlem in the Thyestes Chase in Gowran Park in January, when looking the likely winner: “After that happens, it just makes you enjoy those moments that bit more so I need to get ready for them sorts of things to happen in this career but I'm very happy now that horse is after doing a lot for me the last couple of weeks.”
