The well-backed favourite Sendmylovetorose landed the spoils in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket.

Trained in Co. Tyrone by Andrew Oliver, she was unbeaten in two previous starts having added a Group Three to her maiden victory although she had, in between those wins, been withdrawn from the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot after becoming upset and getting trapped underneath the starting stalls.

In the second half of the field early on, Colm O'Donoghue made eye-catching progress towards the centre of the track from the half-way stage and the Bahamian Bounty filly ran on well to claim the Group Two contest.

It was tight at the end of the six furlongs, however, as Maureen - who had been held-up in rear- fairly flew home when getting daylight, going down by just a neck, and will go down as an unlucky loser in some books with the winner having got first run.

They were clear of Jadanna who had raced prominently throughout alongside the stands' rail while Albany Stakes third, Premier Steps, ran a solid race in fourth without ever looking likely to challenge the principals.

Of those who failed to land a blow, Lovely Pass never got herself into contention having given several lengths away at the start.

O'Donoghue said: "She's still relatively inexperienced, I didn't get to teach her much the first two runs, but she's got the ability and handles the ground.

"I'm delighted for connections. She's a lovely filly and has gone from strength to strength. Andy gave me a lot of confidence and said do your own thing.

"She's quite light on her feet and could handle better ground too. She's got the class to do it on that ground and that's the sign of a good filly.

"She's still raw and green so there's more to come."

Oliver said: "She handled the soft ground but I've never said that she needs it.

"I haven't decided about her next entries, but she would have to be supplemented for the Lowther which is a race we could look at. There are also options like the Phoenix Stakes and the Cheveley Park.

"She's a very tough filly and Colm just kept it very simple, he gave her a great ride."
