Shakervilz aims to step up again

Shakervilz will look to maintain his rate of improvement as he bids to take a hand in the Alo Duffin Memorial Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran Park tomorrow.

The six-year-old has made great strides already this season, winning both his starts and landing a Grade Two in emphatic fashion at Navan last month.

However, he has to step up again as he takes on such performers as Whatuthink and Kazal in an eight-strong line-up for this three-mile heat.

"He's improved all the time and he'll need to improve more tomorrow but he'll handle the ground and the trip so I'd be happy enough for him to take his chance," said County Carlow trainer Willie Mullins.

"I'm not worried about the trip or the ground I just hope that he has come on again. He has certainly improved immensely over the last season."

Robert Tyner is switching Footy Facts back to the smaller obstacles following a mixed campaign over fences so far this term.

"He was having a problem jumping the bigger fences so we said we'd put him back over hurdles for a while," said the Kinsale-based handler.

"We've schooled him over hurdles and he's been jumping well. The ground and the trip will suit him so we hope he'll run well. Hopefully he'll get a bit of money."
