Shakespearean lands Hungerford for Dettori Frankie Dettori led from pillar to post on Shakespearan (3-1) in the Group 2, CGA Hungerford Stakes at Newbury. The jockey, completing an 11-1 double after his earlier success on Janood, dictated the pace and had plenty in hand when challenged in the closing stages. Cat Junior came out of the pack but he was still one and a half lengths down at the line. Ouqba was half a length back in third. "When I went through the form there didn't seem to be a genuine front runner, so I was able to dominate the race. Even so, you have to have the legs to get to the line," said Dettori. Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford said: "The ground suited him and it was a good effort. "Ascot might have come a bit quick for him after his run at Epsom the time before. We'll look out for some plans later on."
