Shelbiana gets deserved win to her name Placed on her last two starts, Shelbiana deservedly made the breakthrough in the concluding Cavalor 'Bronchix Pulmo' Irish EBF Fillies Maiden. Third in handicap company at Leopardstown last week, the Johnny Murtagh-trained Belardo chestnut was sent off an easy-to-back 3/1 chance (15/8 early). Settled behind the leaders by Ben Coen, the 75-rated three-year-old was ridden from the two-furlong pole and only really got going inside the final 200 yards, getting to the front in the final strides to prevail by a head. The Andy Slattery-trained Therewillbeglory (20/1) was the one just denied, while fellow newcomer Grecian Power (33/1) finished well to take third, another length-and-a-quarter behind. "She deserved that, she ran very well last week. Ben rode her the other day and thought she had come out of the race really well," said Murtagh. "It looked like it fitted in nice to her programme and it's just nice to win another maiden. It's a box ticked for her. "We'll see how she is treated by the handicapper on Tuesday and make a plan from there. It's pretty much job done. "He said she's not slow, she just hit a little bit of a flat spot, so definitely she should be able to get a mile. She tries very hard." STEWARDS REPORTS * At the request of the Raceday Stewards, R.P.
