Shipyard lands Ripon's Silver Trophy Shipyard advertised the talents of Mick Appleby once again when winning the Silver Trophy at Ripon in a photo-finish from top weight Nameitwhatyoulike. However, those looking for clues about the draw for the feature Great St Wilfrid were left scratching their heads as the two horses were separated by the width of the track. Nameitwhatyoulike tacked over to the far side from stall 10 under Paul Mulrennan and attempted to make every yard of the running, but Ben Curtis was aware to the danger and made sure Shipyard did not give him too much rope. There was nothing in it as the pair crossed the line together, but the 17-2 chance, formerly trained in Ireland by Andy Oliver, won by a head. Piazon was third with Art Obsession fourth. Appleby was absent, but Curtis said: "He's a nice, tough horse. "He's been a good buy because he's so genuine. "I had one eye on Paul on the far side because there is no one better at setting fractions and I didn't want to let him get away. "He stays very well and is game as a pebble and I thought I'd won. "He had some good form in Ireland and I quite fancied him today."
