Showers of rain are expected in Kildare today ahead of the Curragh's Champions Weekend finale fixture, although the ground remains fast at present.

The Irish St Leger headlines a stellar card which has four Group 1 races and clerk of the course Brendan Sheridan this morning reports “the ground remains good, good to firm in places. The current fog is set to lift, with temperatures of 23 degrees.

“Chatting to Met Eireann, there is a possibility of showers through the day. Thy could be heavy, they could be light and are set to be very localised — it could be raining in Athgarvan and not here or raining here and not down the road. But we are going to get showers through the day.”

“We are racing on the stands' side track and the stalls are in the centre for all sprints.”
