Shrill makes Newbury raid for McCreery Willie McCreery is hoping conditions remain suitable for Shrill as she goes for Listed honours in the Bathwick Tyres St Hugh's Stakes at Newbury on Friday. The Godolphin-owned filly won her maiden in good style at Cork in June and was only collared close home when beaten a length in third place behind Promised Money and Independence Day at this level at Tipperary five weeks ago. "I hope she'll run well. I just hope they don't get too much rain there," said the County Kildare handler. "Conditions should suit. It's the only Listed race of its type left so we've got to give it a go." Shaden has looked a promising type in winning two of her three starts at Nottingham and Ffos Las. Though she flopped in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot, connections of the Lady Cecil-trained filly have drawn a line through that effort and are expecting a better run as she steps back up in class. "You can definitely forget her run at Ascot. She lost a shoe, she didn't break well and nearly came down," said Tony Nerses, racing manager for owners Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar. "She won nicely last time out. It is a big step up on Friday, but hopefully she will run a big race." Richard Hannon is looking for big runs from his two runners, Ejaazah and Whatdoiwantthatfor. "They are both speedy types and ideal for the race," the Marlborough handler told www.richardhannonracing.co.uk. "Ejaazah broke her maiden at Chester and then improved again to chase home Riflescope in this grade at Sandown, but she will need to progress again as Whatdoiwantthatfor is rated 10lb superior by the official assessors, having finished an excellent third in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot on King George day. "Whatdoiwantthatfor drops back to five furlongs here, but she is a typical Kodiac, all speed, and she had earlier won over this trip at Leicester and Windsor. "She is the highest-rated filly in the race, so we go there hopeful of getting in the money with both."
