Simenon primed for York Connections of Simenon hope that he can put his Goodwood Cup disappointment behind him when he lines up in the Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup at York today. The 2013 Ascot Gold Cup runner-up occupied the same position in this race that year but after another cracking Gold Cup effort to take fourth in June, he then managed only eighth on the Sussex Downs. His owner Nick Peacock said: "We took him to Goodwood three years ago and he flopped, so I don't think he likes the place. "If he can reproduce his run in the Gold Cup, he'd be in with a squeak." Simenon is one of two runners in the race for Willie Mullins, alongside Max Dynamite.
