Sinmara (5/4 favourite) looks a stakes prospect after readily winning the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Gowran Park.

Joey Sheridan ’s mount sat second behind outsider Croi Gra and went on a furlong and a half-out. Market rival Rayzera tried to go after her, but was quickly left behind as Sinmara stretched clear to beat that rival by six lengths.

The daughter of Kingman cost £400,000 as a yearling and was third at the Curragh on her sole start at two.

“It was very good, I thought. Ours are needing a little run,” said winning trainer Joseph O’Brien.

“She went through the race really well and I thought she went to the line very well.

“She had a really good debut last year and we liked her a lot. She was very impressive, I thought, today.

“She’ll probably be better when she gets a lead in a better race. We were toying with the idea of whether we’d stick to a mile or go to ten after today.

“There is plenty of stamina in her pedigree but looking at her today, my initial thought was that you’d stick to a mile for now, but we think she’s a filly that will go beyond that eventually.

“She looks talented and I’m delighted to have a nice winner for Wells (Watson). Himself and Andrew (Cary) have supported me with some nice animals over the last few seasons.

“Hopefully, this is a filly that could take us to some nice days.

“The Athasi is the first race that popped to mind after the race. We were thinking about something like Chester. We’ll discuss it and see how she trains, but we’ll probably be sticking to a mile.”
