Six Prix Vermeille rivals for Snowfall Snowfall has another chance to prove the class act at ParisLongchamp this weekend, as one of seven contenders in the Prix Vermeille. In rattling off a Group One treble this season in the Cazoo Oaks, Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks, Aidan O’Brien’s brilliant filly has emerged as the best of her generation — and currently heads the betting for next month’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Given ParisLongchamp’s Arc Trials card clashes with day two of Irish Champions Weekend on Sunday and Ryan Moore is in action at the Curragh, Frankie Dettori will be reunited Snowfall. Dettori rode her at Epsom when Moore preferred the claims of Santa Barbara. Snowfall went on to win by 16 lengths. The Italian told his Sporting Index blog: “I could not believe it when they told me I was going to ride her again — I almost fell off my chair! “She’s the best filly in training at the moment. Her record this year is impeccable, and I never thought I was going to be able to get back on her. “I’d never won a Classic by 16 lengths before — and I don’t think I ever will again. She’s a super filly.” O’Brien also runs French Oaks winner Joan Of Arc (Ioritz Mendizabal) and La Joconde (Hollie Doyle). Roger Varian is sending over Teona — with Burgarita, Philomene and Incarville making up the home team. David Menuisier’s Wonderful Tonight was initially declared for the Prix Foy but sadly suffered a career-ending injury in her final pre-race gallop on Friday morning. The four-year-old, who retires as a dual winner at both Group One and Group Two level, was being prepared for an Arc attempt next. In her absence in the Prix Foy, six remain — including Skalleti, who has won his last two at Group One level, and O’Brien’s Broome. O’Brien’s Bolshoi Ballet, beaten favourite in the Derby but subsequently a winner in America, is one of six in the Prix Niel. Like Broome, he will also be ridden by Dettori and will face Media Stream, Baby Rider and Pretty Tiger.
