JJ Slevin is looking forward to the Christmas action at Leopardstown where he is due to get the leg up on a few live contenders in the big Grade 1 prizes. Solness will make his return to action in the Paddy’s Rewards Club Chase, a race he won 12 months ago. Home By The Lee also trained by Joseph O’Brien, is likewise on course to make his seasonal debut in the Christmas Hurdle, a race that he won last year and also in 2022.

Another big name that Slevin is set to partner is the Martin Brassil-trained Fastorslow who will line up in the Savills Chase.

Solness Seeks Better Ground

“It’s always great racing there and I’m looking forward to it,” Slevin, told journlist Dave Keena

“Solness seems to like it around there and had two very good wins there last year. He’s in good form at home so I’m hoping for the best with him this year.

He’s been very good there the last two years, hopefully he can turn up again and run a big race.

“The ground has been quite deep this winter, deeper than it has been in previous years, and everyone knows he’s a better horse on a sounder surface.

“The best chance we have of getting that is in Leopardstown.”

Home By The Lee Chasing Hat-Trick

Home By The Lee is another regular at Leopardstown and Slevin added:-

“It’s been a lucky venue for him. It looks like it’s going to be a very good race this year, there are plenty of good three mile hurdlers about.

“He’s been very good there the last two years, hopefully he can turn up again and run a big race.”

Fastorslow was a well-beaten third in the John Durkan Chase at Punchestown on his return last month and improvement is expected.

“It was a great run without getting too hard a race, which was probably the main thing after he had a bit of a lay-off.

“It was a lovely run, I loved the way he hit the line. He’s run well around Leopardstown in the past and I’m looking forward to him.”
