Sole to prove he has the Power Eddie Lynam hopes the drop in class for Sole Power can enable him to return to winning ways in the Scarbrough Stakes at Doncaster tomorrow. Having won the 2010 Nunthorpe at 100-1, the five-year-old has run some fantastic races in defeat since but only has one victory in the Temple Stakes at Haydock in May 2011 to show for his efforts. Placed in the Al Quoz Sprint, this year's Temple and the King's Stand, he would certainly not be winning out of turn. "He's travelled over fine and seems in good form," said Lynam. "He was never going to run at Haydock last weekend, we hadn't even entered him for that. "I hope he runs well, he deserves to win another for sure. "If everything goes well tomorrow, he'll then go over to France for the Prix de l'Abbaye (where he was beaten a head in third last year)." Another Irish challenger with strong claims is David Marnane's Nocturnal Affair. Marnane loves nothing better than plundering big British prizes and the six-year-old won the Portland at this meeting last year. Nocturnal Affair has subsequently landed other big prizes at Dundalk and Meydan. He was beaten just over five lengths by Ortensia in the Nunthorpe at York last time out. "He came out of the Nunthorpe well. The ground didn't really suit him that day and I'm not sure he really likes York either," said Marnane. "His preparation wasn't great either as he had his first run back in very testing ground at Tipperary. That didn't suit him but I needed to get a run into him. "He's won at Doncaster before and the ground will suit him better, so hopefully he'll run well as he's a horse I like a lot. "Although he's coming down from a Group One to a Listed race, it's hardly a drop in class with horses like Sole Power in there. "We'll give it a go and if he runs very well, then he could go for the Prix de l'Abbaye."
