Star duo remain on-course for Sussex clash Gleneagles and Solow remain on course for the Qatar Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood next Wednesday after they appeared among 11 remaining confirmations. Aidan O'Brien's Gleneagles has proved without doubt that he is the best three-year-old miler in Europe, winning the English and Irish Guineas as well as the St James's Palace Stakes. Solow, on the other hand, has been a slow-burner for Freddy Head but he burst on to the scene at the Dubai Carnival and has since added two further Group Ones to his name, including the Queen Anne at Ascot. O'Brien has also left in Cougar Mountain. Summer Mile winner Arod is a possible runner for Peter Chapple-Hyam but his owners Qatar Racing have decided against supplementing Lightning Spear, who was second in that Ascot Group Two. Richard Hannon has left in Toormore, now owned by Godolphin, and Night Of Thunder, but the latter is thought more like to head for France in search of softer ground. Charlie Hills could run Dutch Connection after his good run in the Prix Jean Prat, while Roger Varian may finally get another chance to saddle Dewhurst winner Belardo, who has missed several engagements this season.
