Suzie Songs hits right notes on debut Suzie Songs won a final-furlong battle with Havana Anna to make a winning debut in the juvenile fillies' maiden at Cork. Colin Keane's mount made good headway in the final quarter of a mile and came to challenge Havana Anna entering the final furlong. The front two pulled clear of the remainder with 100 yards to race and it was Starspangledbanner filly Suzie Songs who got the upper hand close home. She went off at 5/2 for Ger Lyons and Moyglare Stud Farm, and won by a neck from the 85/40 favourite Havana Anna who had the benefit of a third place on first start at Navan. Another newcomer, Skydance, was five and a-half lengths away in third at 9/4. The market was subject to a major revision after Aidan O'Brien's morning-price favourite Beautify (third on debut at the Curragh) was ruled out due to being off feed. Lyons said: "She has been a queen, has been ready for a while but we took our time with the fillies this year. The only one I've started is Lady Iman (Group 3 winner) and I've let the others come, but this one is a lovely filly and did today what we had seen at home. "There should be plenty of improvement in her and, as with her pedigree, she wants seven furlongs. "Colin said the ground is on the easy side of good." Additional reporting by Tom Weekes
