Synners Kid (17/2) scored on his handicap debut at Naas today, landing the Gain The Advantage Series Nursery for owner Ana O’Brien, her brother trainer Joseph O’Brien and jockey Wayne Hassett.

The colt son of Ten Sovereigns had been well held on three previous maiden starts and having been held up in rear for much of today’s mile trip, made headway in the home straight and eventually scored by 1.5 lengths from Ella’s Gold .

Jockey Hassett reported “he’s a fine big horse and I’ve been riding him out all week in Joseph’s. They went a nice gallop today, the ground was plenty soft enough for him and he took a bit of time to get going but once he did, he kept going and didn’t give up on me.

“I feel like there is plenty more to come from this fella. He stayed the mile well and could get further in time.”
