Tactical rethink for Fame And Glory Seamus Heffernan says he'd ride Fame And Glory differently if he met Sea The Stars again. Heffernan's mount, sent off the 9-4 favourite, finished runner-up to John Oxx's 2000 Guineas winner in the Epsom Derby last Saturday. The Ballydoyle colt tracked Mick Kinane on the winner for most of the 12 furlongs on the Downs, but was never able to get on terms in the closing stages. And afterwards Heffernan told the Racing Post: "I'd like to have another go at them - I felt that he beat me on his terms. "I believe my horse will improve with time and racing, but that's my opinion. The times are there, but Mick made his horse look impressive. I could be wrong but I felt he beat us on his own terms. "I was very happy with the way my lad travelled and the position I had, but I was disappointing that it was not a Group 1 pace. I'd say the pacemaker ran on his own merits." Now Heffernan is looking ahead to the chance to avenge that Epsom defeat, possibly in the Irish Derby at the Curragh later this month. He added: "Maybe Sea The Stars is a super horse and he won't be beaten but I'd do things a little bit differently if I had the chance again. I'd like to have gotten in front of Mick."
