Tell Massini ready for chasing bow

Tom George's Tell Massini will make his eagerly-awaited chasing debut at Stratford on Thursday.

The six-year-old was sent off as favourite for the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last season but was pulled up by Paddy Brennan shortly after the second last. It was his first defeat over timber.

"We've been waiting for a decent bit of ground and I believe it is good to soft, softish ground at Stratford which will be ideal for him," the trainer told At The Races.

"It probably wouldn't be the perfect track but it's more important to get him out there on some nice ground and let him do his thing.

"His work has been excellent and his schooling has been very good as well. He was never going to be a hurdler, he's a chaser through and through. That's why we bought him originally, he jumped his point-to-point fences very well.

"Hopefully we shouldn't have a problem in that department and I'm really looking forwatd to getting him back on the track."
