Joseph O'Brien is hoping Tennessee Stud can make his experience count in the Betfred Derby at Epsom on Saturday.

Successful at the highest level as a juvenile, the Wootton Bassett bay was third on his return to action in the Cashel Palace Hotel Derby Trial Stakes at Leopardstown last month.

Delacroix won that Group 3 contest and he re-opposes now, currently vying for favouritism with 2,000 Guineas hero Ruling Court.

"We feel like he has progressed since Leopardstown," O'Brien commented on Thursday evening.

"He is very versatile when it comes to conditions and he should be guaranteed to go the mile-and-a half. He is a very straightforward, well-balanced horse so he should handle the track.

"It's an open race and there is a chance of a lot of rain on Saturday. He is one that has plenty of experience and is a Group 1 winner. We feel like he has earned his spot in the field.

"He has a little bit to find on the bare form of his reappearance, but hopefully he can at least run near to a career best."
