The New One will bid to redeem his reputation at Aintree next month following a below-par display in the Champion Hurdle.

Nigel Twiston-Davies admitted being disappointed by his stable star's run at Cheltenham where he never threatened to take a hand in the finish and was only fifth to Faugheen.

The Naunton handler is hoping a return to Merseyside on April 9 for the Aintree Hurdle over an extra half-mile, which he won last season, will bring about an upturn in his fortunes.

"We were just a little bit disappointed on the day, but he's fine," said Twiston-Davies.

"He'll go to Aintree for the two-and-a-half-miler again."
