Exciting two-year-old Curragh scorer The Pentagon could be seen next at Glorious Goodwood.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Galileo colt was perhaps the most visually impressive winner of Irish Oaks day, in the Club Godolphin Irish European Breeders Fund Maiden that opened the card.

Ridden by the Ballydoyle handler's daughter, Ana, the 9-2 chance made most of the running and pulled eight and a half lengths clear at the line. A step up in class is now on the cards.

Kevin Buckley, Coolmore's UK representative, said: "It is two weeks away, but at this stage the Vintage Stakes could potentially see The Pentagon run. He was very impressive in Ireland on Saturday.

"We will probably have a look at the Richmond Stakes with US Army Flag after his second in the July Stakes at Newmarket."
