Tin Horse triumphs in French 2000 Tin Horse (10/1) won the Poule D'Essai Des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) under Thierry Jarnet at Longchamp this afternoon, with the front-running favourite Wootton Bassett fading in the final furlong to finish fifth. Richard Fahey's charge was pushed forward after a quick start to make most of the running under Paul Hanagan, however he was swamped at the furlong pole. First the strong-travelling Havane Smoker (18/1) moved into the lead however he was mown down late on by Didier Guillemin's Tin Horse, who careered away under Jarnet to score by two lengths. Venomous (66/1) ran on well just a short-head further adrift in third, while David Wachman's Imperial Rome was checked slightly about a furlong out and not beaten that far in seventh. Fahey's assistant Robin O'Ryan, speaking from Ripon, said: "Paul felt he ran a bit fresh and a bit free. He had no prep race and it was always the worry. "He had to bounce him out to get a position and he just didn't get home. He owes us absolutely nothing."
