Tomahawk Set For The Curragh

Tomahawk, Ireland's highest rated juvenile in the 2002 International Classification, is poised to make his reappearance at the first Irish Flat meeting of the year at the Curragh on Sunday.

Trainer Aidan O'Brien said: 'The plan is to run Tomahawk in the Oak Lodge Sires Loughbrown Stakes, providing everything is okay with him later in the week. He has wintered well and seems to be fine.'

Tomahawk won the opening race of the Irish season at The Curragh a year ago and while he failed to win again he achieved his rating of 118 by finishing second in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot and both the Middle Park Stakes and the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

The son of Seattle Slew finished up last season by finishing eighth in the Breeders` Cup Juvenile at Arlington Park in which stablemate Hold That Tiger ran third.

O'Brien also has maiden winners Delacroix, France, Gianfanti and Rock Of Gibraltar's full brother, Great Pyramid, winner of one of his five starts, in the seven-furlong Listed event.

Yesterday, winner of two of her six starts last season and high up in ante-post lists for the Vodafone Oaks, is one of three O'Brien-trained entries for the Listed EBF Park Express Fillies Stakes also at the Curragh. But 'Yesterday is only a possible runner at this stage ' O'Brien said.
