Torquay Road a last-gasp winner for Staples The 11/4 favourite Torquay Road must have hit a much bigger price in-running before getting up close home under Eoin Staples to land the SIS Supporting Irish Racing Handicap Hurdle at Galway. A winner at Sligo on his previous start, the No Risk At All gelding tracked the leaders but looked held in third after getting under the final flight. He really knuckled down up the hill, though, and surged between Harpy Eagle and longtime leader Bowgate Street in the final 50 yards to lead in the final strides. The winner passed the post half a length in front of Harpy Eagle with a further neck back to Bowgate Street in third Trainer Cian Collins said of the Kevin McConnell-owned six-year-old: "He got in close to the last two hurdles which didn't help him as he was tight for room, but it was a great ride by Eoin. It is nice to get another win out of him. "He is a good honest horse, put his head down and Eoin said he wanted to win. "I think he just began with a high rating at the start so it took him a while to find his feet, but he's really getting the hang of the jumping now. We are open to any plans with him at the moment, so we'll see." Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes
