Tregoning hopeful of Oaks favourite's stamina

Marcus Tregoning is optimistic new Investec Oaks favourite Rumoush will stay the mile and a half when she has a second crack at Classic glory next month.

The daughter of Rahy is on course for the race following her creditable effort in the 1000 Guineas in which she finished seventh behind the promoted winner Special Duty.

"She's in great form, we're very happy with her. She's on course for Epsom at the moment and all being well she'll go there in great shape. She's in great shape at the moment," said the Lambourn trainer.

"I hope she'll get the trip. I've had a lot of her family and the ones I've had have got the trip.

"Her half-brother Mawatheeq gets it well. He's by Danzig, who is more an influence for speed than Rahy so I think there's a good chance she will."

Ralph Beckett will wait a while before deciding whether to commit Ceilidh House to the June 4th Classic.

She was third to Dyna Waltz in the Oaks Trial at Lingfield on Saturday on only her second career start.

"She's come out of it well and is fine and sound this morning," said the Whitsbury handler.

"I think the way the race was run wasn't helpful to our cause. We'll see how we go before we make anymore decisions, bearing in mind it was only her second start ever and I would envisage her coming on for it.

"We'll see how it pans out in terms of future plans.

"What I was pleased about is that she handled the track so well and that she travelled throughout the race well.

"The winner was beaten half a mile out and stayed on past us. The Oaks is still a long way off."
