Tregoning hopeful with well-bred Rumoush Marcus Tregoning is banking on Rumoush keeping up a fine family tradition in Sunday's StanJames.com 1000 Guineas at Newmarket. Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's filly, a 7-1 chance with the sponsors, is a half-sister to last year's winner Ghanaati and Champion Stakes runner-up Mawatheeq, and is from the same family as the brilliant Nashwan, Nayef and Unfuwain. Before her impressive seasonal reappearance in the Feilden Stakes, Tregoning viewed her more as an Oaks filly but that performance convinced connections to let her take her chance. "You would have to be very pleased with her win at Newmarket and she will have come on for the race and be sharper mentally," said Tregoning. "Physically she looks just fine and this is her prep race, if you like, for the rest of the season. "The Guineas are great trials for both the Oaks and Derby as it is very early in the year and it is very exciting to have a good chance. "You can't guarantee that she will get a mile and a half. I personally think she will and there is a good chance of it, but the Guineas is a very important race. It is a Group One and the first fillies' Classic of the year and I think she deserves her chance. "Sheikh Hamdan really wants to see her run well and it is very important for us that she does. "Between myself and Dick Hern (Tregoning's former boss) we have trained most of her family. Dick trained the great Nashwan who was a fantastic horse and he also had Unfuwain of course. "I have had Nayef and now this filly, as well as Mawatheeq and he is a very good horse too." Assessing his rivals the Lambourn handler views Special Duty as his main danger. "I think the French filly is the one myself. I was very impressed with her and love her as a specimen and a type," Tregoning added. "I think she has got tremendous speed and if she can get a mile she is the one we all have to worry about."
