True Testimony opened her account when taking the Race And Stay Irish EBF Mares Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse for trainer Ian Donoghue and amateur rider Joey Dunne.

The daughter of Doyen was bought out of Pat Fahy’s yard for €48,000 in May and showed promise over this 2m4f trip at Cheltenham last month. Kilashee held a clear advantage for much of the race but was reeled in between the final two fences.

True Testimony made a slight mistake at the final fence but kept on well under Dunne on the run-in to beat Uhavemeinstitches by a length and a quarter. Mystical Goddess was a further three lengths back in third.

Dunne said, “It’s only her third run for Ian and we thought she’d improve plenty when we got her.

“The last day in Cheltenham she probably went a bit hard. Ian said to drop her in a bit today, get her in a rhythm and get her to come home well. She did and she did that very easy.

“She had been second here twice before and she won today.”
