Turf Club agree to Registry switch

The Turf Club and INHS Committee today agreed to the transfer of the Registry Office functions to the newly founded Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) following a meeting of members today.

Turf Club members had been angry at the Government`s decision to create an extra seat on the HRI board for a union representative without consultation and their representatives failed to attend a HRI board meeting last month.

But the decision today paves the way for the new body to assume control of Irish racing.

In a statement from Senior Steward, Raymond Rooney, the organisation said that their members were 'prepared to set aside their deep felt grievances for the overall betterment of the horseracing industry.'
