Ungaro Waits

Connections of top novice chaser Ungaro are to save the eight-year-old for a spring campaign.

The Sir Robert Ogden-owned gelding is unbeaten over fences in three starts and landed the Stan James Feltham Chase in great style when beating Boychuk by 10 lengths.

He had been mentioned as a possible for the Scilly Isles Novices' Chase at Sandown this weekend, but trainer Keith Reveley said: 'We decided to give the Scilly Isles a miss as Sir Robert had another one for the race in According To John.

'Ungaro has done nothing wrong all year and there are the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals to think about with him.

'He's a cracking horse, he travels and jumps well. Those types of horses always win races and I haven't had a horse like that so far in my career.

'I don't know whether it will be Cheltenham or Aintree, but Barry (Simpson, racing manager) has far more experience in deciding that type of thing so I will leave it up to him.

'I've left him up to him and it has worked perfectly so far this season so he will be deciding what we aim at next.'
