Unquite Dreams gains last gasp victory in the bumper The complexion of the Christy Lucey Transport Mares Finale (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race changed a number of times in the straight with Unquite Dreams getting up on the line to gain an unlikely success in the concluding race of the five-day Killarney July meeting. The Sean Allen-trained mare, as big as 66/1 overnight and sent off at 14/1, set the early pace but looked a spent force when dropping towards rear entering the home straight. The patiently ridden Echoes Of Jane travelled well to challenge inside the final quarter mile and was ridden to lead a furlong out. However, David Doyle was getting a renewed effort out of Unquite Dreams and she finished with a flourish to score by a head. Royal Tiara was a length and a half further back in third. Allen said, “She showed a bit of promise in a bumper in Cork, and it turned out to be a very good race. “We gave her a bit of time and waited for a bit of nice ground. She’s after coming on leaps and bounds and I’m thrilled with it. “I’m delighted for Padraig Clancy; he’s a good patron of mine and he hasn’t had it easy recently. “I was down below and didn’t really see it. When she came past me, we had no hope. To hear she’d won it was actually twice as good.” Quotes by Gary Carson
