Velozee quickened up smartly to take the First Flier Stakes at the Curragh this afternoon in fine style.

The Paddy Twomey-trained filly had made a winning debut at Cork a month ago and went to post a 4/1 shot in Listed company.

Billy Lee ’s mount travelled well to hit the front a furlong-and-a-half from home and was asked for an effort entering the final furlong.

She soon asserted, going on to post a three-and-a-half length victory over What A Girl Wants in the five furlong contest.

"Billy thinks six furlongs will be no issue to her, so we might look at maybe the Albany. She could go back to Naas in a couple of weeks and, run again,” said Twomey.

"She is a strong filly. She has had one bit of work since she won in Cork. She's uncomplicated and, I think she's good."
