Vent breezing ahead of fencing bow Trainer Liz Doyle is excited about the prospect of seeing stable star Le Vent D'Antan pursue a career over fences later this year. The talented bumper performer took a while to find his feet over hurdles last season due to various training setbacks, but he signed off his campaign with an impressive victory at the Punchestown Festival. Doyle reports her five-year-old to have done extremely well physically during his summer break and is confident he can take his game to another level over the larger obstacles. Doyle said: "He's coming along well. We had him scoped when he came back in three weeks ago and everything was clean, so hopefully all the ulcer problems we've had are behind us and we can have a good run with him now. "It took us a while to get going with him last year as it's hard to get the work into them when you're treating them for ulcers the whole time. It will make things so much easier now he's hopefully got that problem sorted. "He looks a completely different horse since he came back in. He's bigger and stronger and we're looking forward to going chasing with him. "He wasn't 100 per cent with his jumping over hurdles and I think jumping fences will be the making of him. "We're aiming to start him off in a two-and-a-half-mile beginners' chase somewhere in October. Hopefully he can improve and reach a nice level."
