Vic Sore After Cheltenham Outing

Our Vic was reported to be 'stiff and sore' after pulling up in Saturday´s Robin Cook Memorial Gold Cup at Cheltenham.

Martin Pipe´s runner was sent off the 9-2 favourite for the feature race, but he hit the first and second fences before tailing off and eventually being pulled up by Timmy Murphy.

The seven-year-old´s owner David Johnson believes Our Vic just struggled to find his stride.

He told At The Races: 'He never jumped the first fence or the second either and Timmy did the right thing in pulling him up.

'He´s a bit like a bully really, if things are going his way he does well. If they don´t go his way, then he´s not the same horse.

'I think his chance had gone after the second fence and Timmy did the right thing. If he had gone on, I´m sure things would have been a lot worse - he is a bit stiff and sore.'

Our Vic had been discussed as a possible contender for the Stan James King George VI Chase on Boxing Day, but those plans are now on hold.

'I need to speak to Martin about it, but you would have to say it is doubtful,' Johnson added.
