Victory Speech Makes No Mistake at Galway The Aidan O'Brien-trained Victory Speech was a comfortable winner of the Whiriskey Refrigeration Irish EBF Maiden for jockey Wayne Lordan. Sent off the 11/10 favourite, having been 8/13 earlier in the day, jockey Wayne Lordan used his impressive debut at the Curragh to good use as he made all on the son of Wootton Bassett, and he picked up well turning into the straight to fend off the Joseph O'Brien-trained Zarak Pasha, who also showed signs of improvement from his debut in Killarney, in what looks to be a nice maiden to look back on. Speaking after the race, trainer representative Chris Armstrong said: "He had a lovely run the first day and we felt coming around Galway would be a lovely learning experience for him. The mile looked likely to suit and he had a good look around, so there is plenty of improvement to come. "He will be a lovely middle-distance horse for next year and we'll try and get one more run into him now, before running in the Group 1 Golden Fleece Stakes on Champions Weekend, all being well. "He has plenty of options, we'll see where he fits in with the others over the next two weeks and he is a horse for next year more so." (Quotes from Tom Weekes)
