Vinnie Roe Declared For Ballyroan Stakes At Leopardstown

Four time Irish St Leger winner, Vinnie Roe, is one of 6 declared runners for the Ballyroan Stakes at Leopardstown on Sunday.

The opposition includes the John Oxx-trained Shalapour, third to Hurricane Run in the Budweiser Irish Derby at the Curragh on his last outing and a strong fancy for the English St Leger at Doncaster next month. Vinnie Roe will be chasing a 14th career win on Sunday and if successful will smash the ?1 million barrier in win prizemoney alone. If all goes well he will then attempt a record fifth successive victory in the Irish St Leger at the Curragh in September before another attempt at the Melbourne Cup in Australia in November, a race which is likely to be his last one before retirement.

On the same Leopardstown card, John Oxx's Caradak heads a field of 8 declared for the Desmond Stakes (Group 3) as he bids to follow up his impressive win in the Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh last month. Caradak will face stiff opposition from the likes of English raiders Hazyview and Majestic Desert while Democratic Deficit and Lord Admiral are also sure to figure prominently.
