Vous springs 66/1 surprise for Deacon The Daryl Deacon-trained Volez Vous grabbed her chance after getting in as a reserve in the Cloneen Mares Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel this afternoon, springing a 66/1 shock. Ben Kennedy produced the Yeats mare to lead, travelling well, before the second last in the two-miler. She had to dig deep though when tackled by Bhean Saibhre at the final flight, asserting late on to post a three-parts-of-a-length win. Volez Vous had been tailed off on her last outing at Punchestown a month ago and was opening her account on her tenth start. "We had her half-sister De Lady In Red (dual winner) who came a lot quicker but this filly has just taken longer. Ricky Doyle rode her one day and said the Yeats' all take a bit of time,” said Deacon. "We were just hoping to see some improvement today as she was nearly on her last chance, so it was a surprise and I'm delighted. We claimed Ben's 7lb as well and every little helps. "We also have some point-to-pointers and store horses for the sales, so we had a few inspected this morning.  "This mare is owned by my father William, who along with my mother, is unfortunately in a nursing home."
