Walsh strikes on second day back Ruby Walsh who was out of action for the last four months was back in the winners enclosure on his second ride back when Glantara made it a front running performance to take the Jameson Novice Chase. Walsh who made all aboard the Beneficial gelding saw off all challengers and sprinted clear on the run-in for a five and a half length win over Armaramak. Winning trainer John Kiely said afterwards: “So much for handicaps and ratings, we were wrong on official ratings and if your not in you can’t win.” “I was told coming here that my horse had no chance. The ground was all wrong in his hurdle race at Cork and he pinged his fences here today.” Kiely said of the winning jockey: “A confident ride is just what he needed.” Walsh suffered a triple fracture of his arm in horrific fall at Aintree on Grand National day back in April stated: “It’s great to be back and the arm feels good.” “The horse jumped like a buck throughout.”
