Many people involved in Irish racing would welcome a drop of rain as conditions have been lively underfoot during the first week of the resumption of the season, leading to a fair number of withdrawals on account of fast ground.

Heavy showers were scattered around the country over the weekend, but most of them missed the tracks that are due to race in the next few days.

Fairyhouse is good to firm and Roscommon good to firm, good in places for today’s sport, with only minimal rain at both venues over the weekend. Watering has taken place at the former, where they also race this Thursday, and there remains a chance of thundery showers this afternoon at both tracks.

Limerick race on Wednesday, and they’re watering as well with the ground described as good to firm, good in places, while there is a chance of scattered showers in the lead-up to racing.

Gowran Park race on Wednesday and Friday this week and, while it’s good ground at the moment, their forecast is for unsettled weather with the risk of between 15-30mm of rain before the first of those fixtures.

Tipperary did get the rain, and it’s yielding ground there ahead of Friday’s card. They had 26mm of rain over the weekend, and there’s a chance they might get more showers today and tomorrow.
