Weld has three in Melbourne Cup

Dermot Weld has three entries for the Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington Park on November 6th.

Galileo's Choice, Rite Of Passage and Sapphire are the possibles for the master of Rosewell House, who has claimed the race twice with Vintage Crop and Media Puzzle.

Aidan O'Brien has I Have A Dream engaged in the race.

French runners Dunaden and Americain share top weight. The pair, trained by Mikael Delzangles and Alain de Royer-Dupre respectively, have won the last two renewals of the Grade One handicap over two miles and have been handed 9st 2lb.

Local runner Efficient, who won the 2007 Cup, the other previous winner being aimed at this year's race, has been allocated 8st 9lb.

Ed Dunlop's Red Cadeaux was beaten just a nose last year, the narrowest margin in the history of the race, and has a slight rise in weight this year to 8st 10lb.

Mount Athos who heads most markets for the event is on 8st 7lb.
