Wemightakedlongway causes Salsabil surprise Wemightakedlongway (15/2) caused a minor surprise in winning Navan’s Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Salsabil Stakes today, as the Joseph O’Brien-trained filly made all to score under Dylan Browne McMonagle. The race featured Ballydoyle’s smart Ecstatic and well-bred Tarima, along with impressive recent Leopardstown winner Catalina Delcarpio but each failed to catch the front-runner. Eventual runner-up Catalina Delcarpio admittedly met some traffic two furlongs out but Wemightakedlongway maintained her gallop, for a 2.75 lengths success. O’Brien, fresh from a Brown McMonagle-partnered Limerick treble yesterday, reported “Wemightakedlongway is a good filly, has been a good filly and I thought her last run finishing behind Delacroix was really good for a first run back. "We were looking at going to Chester but, when the drop of rain came, decided to come here and she has won impressively.” He added “I have campaigned her aggressively and she ran against colts on both of her last two runs. She's a smart filly." “The Pretty Polly (Group 1 over 1m2f) is the race we are really building towards: she is out of a No Nay Never mare so she just wouldn't be guaranteed to go 1m4f. We will see whether we look at Epsom (the Oaks) or whether we look at something else before the Pretty Polly." Quotes from Michael Graham
