Wetherby Tomorrow Off Thursday's meeting at Wetherby has been abandoned following a second inspection at 4pm. Officials had looked at 8am due to very fast ground at the West Yorkshire track and tried to get the course fit for an evening's summer jumping. Problems were caused when the watering system malfunctioned on Tuesday during the hot weather. Although it was up and running again, officials at the jumps course felt there was not enough time to get the track back up to scratch. "Although it improved marginally today we all felt it wasn't going to improve sufficiently by tomorrow as we would just have maintained what he have achieved today," said clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson. "There are certain priorities the British Horseracing Authority lay down for summer jumping. We didn't feel we were able to achieve those in the time we had left before tomorrow night's meeting. "The safety of horses and jockeys is paramount above everything else and as such we have decided to abandon."
