Wexford NAP and NB in the 3m1f William Hill Beginners Chase On Tuesday The second of two William Hill Each-way Extra Challenge Series races at Wexford is due off at 15:57 on Tuesday, with a field of four going to post for the 3m1f event. Our expert has provided his best bet. By Enda McElhinney. Selection: Kevin’s Pride @ SP with Boylesports This trip a major concern for Mullins’ runner It was another Cheltenham Festival to remember for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend, the remarkable duo combining to win the Champion Hurdle with Lossiemouth, the Champion Chase with Il Etait Temps, the Gold Cup with Gaelic Warrior as well as the Turners Novices’ Hurdle with King Rasco Grey. They are represented in this Wexford race by the 128-rated Yoradreamer, who goes back up in trip following a good run behind his stablemate King Alexander over an extended 2m3f here on heavy ground last month. The seven-year-old got within three lengths of the odds-on winner on that occasion, form that reads well with that rival since running with plenty of credit to finish fourth in a Grade 2 novices’ handicap chase off a mark of 144 at the festival last week. However, this longer trip is a major concern for the chestnut gelding, who stopped quickly following an error at the third-last over 3m at Navan in January. His only win so far under rules came in a 2m3f maiden hurdle at Downpatrick on good ground last summer and he’s likely to be vulnerable to stronger stayers. Great Attitude has shown a good amount of ability in his two starts under rules so far, the seven-year-old running out a clear winner in a 2m Fairyhouse maiden hurdle on soft ground on his debut a little over a year ago for Thomas Cleary. He then ran to a Racing Post Rating of 117 when fifth over fences for new trainer Cormac Farrell at Galway (2m2f) in the summer. This much longer trip is a big concern for him, however, and he is opposed. Veteran Waittillitellyou would have strong claims if back to his best, but he ran poorly on his belated chase debut at Naas only last week and has something to prove. Pride the pick for McConnell The selection for this race goes to the John McConnell-trained KEVIN’S PRIDE, who is admirably consistent and most certainly wasn’t winning out of turn when opening his account over hurdles (2m4f) at Cork in October, the son of Mount Nelson having found one too good on each of his previous starts over obstacles. A decisive winner of his only bumper outing at Kilbeggan in August 2024, he’s been a horse you can almost set your watch by - running to Racing Post Ratings of between 111 and 114 on his last four starts. He’s got a bit to find with Yoradreamer on the book now switching to fences, but he was a close second over 3m at Limerick last April and has plenty of stamina in his pedigree, so may well be too strong for that rival at the business end.
