Wings Primed To Maintain Unbeaten Record

Connections of Flashy Wings expect the filly to extend her unbeaten record when she faces five rivals in the Group Two Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes at York tomorrow.

Mick Channon´s daughter of Zafonic heads the market for next year´s UltimatePoker.com 1000 Guineas after flying home in impressive fashion to land the Queen Mary Stakes at the Royal meeting.

Flashy Wings beat Jeremy Noseda´s Salut D´Amour by an easy three lengths on that occasion and has yet to taste defeat in three starts.

“She is an exceptionally good filly and Mick says she is as good as ever, if not better, since winning the Queen Mary,” said Joe Mercer, racing manager to owner Jaber Abdullah.

“The ground will be right up her street - she doesn´t mind it fast and won on very fast ground last time at York.

“She is a lovely filly and has all of the right potential.

“We think she wants the step up in trip and all along she has looked like a six-furlong filly as you can hold her up and use her turn of foot.

“The plan tomorrow would be to hold her up just off the pace and whatever beats her will win.”

Noseda this time relies on La Chunga, who was also in the winner´s enclosure at Royal Ascot at York when a convincing winner of the Albany Stakes.

Since then the daughter of More Than Ready has finished fourth in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Newbury, a race in which she was sent off the 11-10 favourite.

However, a reason for her defeat has emerged and Noseda is expecting a bold show.

“We found a reason for her lacklustre effort at Newbury last time, but her preparations for the Lowther have gone extremely well and we are hopeful,” the trainer told www.jeremynoseda.com.

Aidan O´Brien sends Beauty Bright for the Group Two race after she built on her debut run when third at Leopardstown by beating three rivals in a five-furlong Cork maiden last month.

Following her Listed win at Newmarket in June, Dixie Belle faces a rise in class, with Clive Brittain´s Lonely Ahead and Ed McMahon´s Weatherbys Super Sprint runner-up Nigella completing the field.
