Rated in the mid-80's at his best, the gelding had been out of form prior to landing a handicap here on his penultimate start. Far from disgraced off 7lb higher last time, the seven-year-old has solid claims dropped in grade. Terry Casey, who takes the ride for the first time, has been in excellent form in recent weeks. Stone Rulya needs to step up on what he has shown to date but trainer Ger Lyons has a great record with his runners in claimers. It would be no surprise to see the three-year-old go close. Powerful Hook Head needs to improve but is well treated at the weights.
