FormscanBy Tom Weekes - MEPHISTO makes a quick reappearance under a 7lb penalty having won at Wexford on Thursday but has solid claims. An able good-ground and all-weather performer, he tries today’s distance for the first time but having previously stayed two-miles quite well on the Flat, should cope with the extra yardage. Three-time winner Le Grand Vert was well beaten at Wexford last month but that was his first run for 138 days and had previously scored over fences at Ayr. He is rated 100 over fences, so should compete from today’s lower hurdle mark, and seems ground-versatile and also stays well. Zolpharine disappointed on a recent chase Roscommon run but had previously run well over fences.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 0-100Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
