FormscanBy Gary Carson - BLACKBEARD ran a solid race to finish fourth in the Coventry at Royal Ascot and looks the one to beat here. The centre proved the place to be all week there and it looked significant that the front three all came up that strip at Ascot. He was staying on at the death when fourth on the near side and despite already having four outings under his belt there looks scope for further improvement from the Ballydoyle colt. Stablemate Age Of Kings was behind him in seventh last time and looks held on that form. Crispy Cat was involved in one of the stories of the week at Ascot when hampered by The Ridler in the Norfolk Stakes. He definitely would have been closer with a clear run in the five furlong contest and looks an obvious danger here but stepping up to six on a stiff track is an unknown. He was narrowly beaten by the selection over five here in May and Blackbeard looks to have improved for going up to six furlongs since.
