FormscanBy Tom Weekes - WHERE’S FRANKIE is normally to be found around today’s course where he has already won four times and it is hoped he can return to form on reappearance. A dour stayer, he was lightly-raced last season but his rating has since fallen and is today ridden by a 3lb claimer. Baldur’s Gate finished second to the selection in a course meeting in January 2024 and while now better off at these weight, needs to show more than on his recent Galway reappearance and has also won just once from 17 career starts. Kilashee has a light weight and is rated higher at 99 over hurdles, but would ideally prefer a sounder surface.

An extended handicap steeplechase for five years old and upwards (120 = 12st 4lbs)
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each steeplechase won.
Riders - Qualified Riders under I.N.H.S. Rules. Top weight after the time of declaration shall not be less than 12st 4lbs and the minimum weight is 10st 7lbs. Note The Rules and instructions relating to the Overnight Nomination of Riders shall not apply in this instance. The top 8 horses declared in race card order will be allocated riders from the selected British based and Irish based Riders team by lot. Trainers of any remaining horses in this race should declare a rider of their choice. The draw for riders will take place at 10.30 a.m. on Sunday 9th November with the toss of a coin to determine which team draws odd or even numbers. Individual riders will then be drawn by ballot. Points will be scored by the first eight placed horses on a scale of 15-12-10-8-7-6-5-4, if the horse is eligible to score points, and the team that accumulates the highest number of points will be deemed the winner. In the event of there being less than 8 horses declared or a non-runner the equivalent rider in the opposing team eg. Nos. 1 & 2, Nos 3 & 4 etc., will not be eligible to score points.
