The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined White Birch (GB), trained by John Joseph Murphy, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be have a small cut on its left fore lateral canon but was otherwise post race normal
C.D. Hayes, rider of Anmaat, trained by Owen Burrows (in GB), reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was very badly hampered leaving the stalls
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Shin Emperor (FR), ridden by Ryusei Sakai, placed sixth, White Birch (GB), ridden by D. Browne McMonagle, placed fifth, and Mount Kilimanjaro (FR), ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed eight, where it appeared there was contact between Shin Emperor and White Birch. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Ryusei Sakai stated that his mount had nothing left and that the contact was not an issue. D. Browne McMonagle stated that he maintained his line but the horse on his outside switched back in. R. P. Whelan stated that his race was run and he maintained his line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action. Ryusei Sakai gave his evidence through Hiroshi Ando, his interpreter, at this enquiry
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after leaving the stalls involving Anmaat, ridden by C.D
Hayes, placed second, Royal Champion, ridden by C. Lee, placed third, Delacroix, ridden by C. Soumillon, placed first, Hotazhell (GB), ridden by S. Foley, placed fourth, and Mount Kilimanjaro (FR), ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed eight, where it appeared Royal Champion and Anmaat ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. C. D. Hayes stated that he broke well but wanted cover and received pressure as he took back. C
Lee stated that he had to take a check. C. Soumillon stated that his mount broke very well and shied away from the camera car on the outside. S. Foley stated that things got tight. R. P. Whelan stated that he intended to make it but his mount jumped slowly. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found C. Soumillon was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended C. Soumillon for two racedays. In arriving at their decision the Raceday Stewards did agree that Delacroix had broke to his left but felt C. Soumillon had failed to take reasonable steps to correct his mount
B.M. Coen, rider of Zahrann, trained by J.P. Murtagh, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got upset in the stalls
The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr Peter Roe, Head of Racing, HRI Racecourses, after it appeared that Delacroix, placed first, jinked from a photographer at the winning post. Mr Roe apologised for this incident and stressed that he would make every effort to ensure that a repeat incident did not occur. The Raceday Stewards took no further action other than to reminded Mr. Roe of his responsibilities to comply with the protocol already in place regarding photographers.
