We were thinking he was well handicapped over hurdles for a long time and every day we went out we fancied him, but he has been unlucky. He had won here last year over a similar trip so today's race should have suited. He is a great horse and has now won nine races between the track and point to points. We are very lucky to have him and put the blinkers on him to keep him focusses, but he is genuine. We had two runners in the point to point at Castletown Geoghegan today so my brother Alex went there but unfortunately it didn't work out for him. We have 20 horses in and he is the only one for the track. Hopefully after Christmas some out of our five-year-olds can win point to points.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Raceday Stewards that Cordal Boy trained by E. McNamara was found to have blood at both nostrils post race
The Raceday Stewards interviewed Tiernan Power Roche, rider of Miss Lia, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the whip regulation. When questioned on his whip use on approach to the last hurdle, while using his whip down the shoulder with his hand off the rein, he stated that his mount was hanging right and he was using his whip for corrective purposes to avoid causing interference. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Tiernan Power Roche was in breach of Reg 10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his clean record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for four racedays. In arriving at their decision on penalty, the Raceday Stewards were not satisfied that the first two whip uses down the shoulder were for corrective purposes but otherwise accepted his explanation
